Nailed It!

American flag nails, checkerd nails, astroturf nails... Say what? I don't know if you've noticed, but Pintrest is blowing up with the most elaborate nail art I've ever seen. I mean, some of these mini murals belong in a museum! Perhaps the most bizarre and hysterical of the bunch is THIS little gem.

I, for one, am a mother and can't imagine rocking a chip-free manicure, let alone maintaining a mini garden growing across my fingertips! HoweNail Artver, I am kind of a slave for fashion and I do enjoy this new nail art trend. I've discovered Sally Hanson Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips and I'm totally obsessed. I never thought I'd be one of those moms who don such dazzling digits, but here I am with tiny little flowers on all my fingertips!

While I love all the patterns, my favorite has to be Love Letter. I have no idea what is says, but it looks like some tiny person has scribbled a letter across my nails. Can you tell I'm a writer? But if that's not your style, you'll find a ton of different patterns from colorful butterflies to black and white checkers. Print off this coupon for $1.00 off Sally Hansen and use it to purchase a Salon Effects kit. They come with everything you need to take your nails to the next level without the time, patience or crazy good skills!

Fit to be Tied

Father's Day is right around the corner, and if you're shopping around for gift ideas, I have just the thing. Alkemi Apparel is featuring an online deal that gets you $40 worth of apparel and ties for just $20.

I must say, I do love a man in a tie. I know they're just pieces of cloth wrapped around a guy's neck, but they still manage to make a big statement about the gMen's Appareluy who's wearing it. After all, style is about personality, and a tie is one of the few elements in a man's wardrobe that's sole purpose is style.

So, what's your dad or your husband's tie personality? If you're thinking a dapper new tie would be the perfect Father's Day gift, then I have a few helpful styling rules for you to follow when shopping around.

  1. You can't go wrong with a solid color tie and a white shirt. It's a classic look, and it's never out of style.
  2. For something different, it's now acceptable to wear stripes with stripes or checks with checks, so long as the patterns aren't identical in size.
  3. Avoid wearing a striped tie with a striped shirt and a pinstriped suit. Typically the same pattern on three different pieces of your wardrobe is a no-no.
  4. In general, the proper width of a tie is three inches.
  5. Standard neckties come in lengths from anywhere between 52 to 58 inches long. If you're buying for a very tall man, you may need to visit a specialty store to find longer ties.
  6. Make sure at least one color of your tie matches either your suit, shirt or your belt and shoes.
Alkemi Apparel has a great selection of ties, all of which are $40. And when you use this special deal, you only pay $20! What's knot to love about that!?

Happy styling.

Here's to Friends and Family

I used to be perplexed by ads for ?Friends and Family? sales. I never really understood with whom you had to be friends or to what family you had to belong to take advantage of these discounts. And for a while there I thought that maybe you didn't have to know somebody, maybe you had to be gifting a friend or family member. But then how would the retailer know? It was all so confusing.

Well, I found you do not need to really be someone special to save money during these sales. And, since it is that time of year again (a time to update your family's wardrobe for summer) there are a bunch of merchants having ?Friends and Family? sales right now. The one that caught my eye today was the Friends and Family Sale taking place right now at Steve Madden. Just use the promo code FFSpring at checkout and get 25% off plus free shipping!

So, go check out this great sale and get your summer shoes on! And I would hurry and get my shopping done if I were you, because the rumor is this sale is today only!

Have a great week!

What to Wear on Prom Night

To me, prom is a distant memory. But for some, it is in the very near future! If you're a parent of a soon-to-be grad, then I'm assuming you've sat them down to have "the talk." Sure, the no drinking and no hanky-panky spiel is a given, but what I want to know is, have you discussed what to wear?

For me, I was never given this talk, which led to a fashion disaster filled with boatloads of tulle, matching green eye shadow and enough hairspray to burn a small hole in the ozone layer. No, high school was not the peak of my stylish days. But after many years of fashion blunders, I?ve learned from my mistakes. And isn't passing these lessons on to our children what parenting is all about?

So, this post is for all of the young ladies out there who still have a chance to do their prom night right! If you're hoping to make some good decisions that won't have you cringing at your photo album 10 years down the line, then I encourage you to check out Piperlime. They have a slew of designer dresses that don?t scream ?I?m a walking cupcake!? but still make a statement for your special night. Take a gander and while you?re there, check out the amazing prices on designer dresses! To help you get started, I?ve laid out a variety of options that range from black-tie and sophisticated to cute and casual.

PiperlimePiperlimePiperlimePiperlimePiperlimeOnce you've picked a dress, you can also find shoes, clutches and accessories at Piperlime to match! Make your prom night one to remember (hopefully not in a "what was I ?thinking?" kind of way) with the help of these lovely dresses. Have fun shopping!
